Maserati Sebring Series II
Maserati Sebring Series II
The Sebring Series I was based upon the styling of the 3500 GT and built on the short wheel base chassis of the 3500 GT Spyder. It was first introduced at the 1962 Salon International de l’Auto in Geneva and was designed by Vignale’s Giovanni Michelotti.
The front differed from the 3500 GT with the addition of trending quad headlamps and new front turn signals, and the side grilles on the front fenders were borrowed from its Quattroporte sibling. The Series II (Tipo AM 101/10) version was introduced in 1965 with slightly redesigned headlamps, more modern bumpers, horizontal taillights, and narrower bootlid opening.
Production estimates for the Series II cars vary, but most sources put numbers somewhere between 242 and 245 Tipo AM101/10 units built. With its steel chassis and luxury interior, the car was aimed at the American GT market with a top speed of nearly 150 mph.
